As archival and vintage pieces have become some of the hottest items in fashion, New Balance reintroduced the world to the Steven Smith-designed New Balance 550 to much success. Now 3 years since its initial revival, we continue to see a massive push for the model. Recently spotted in a “White Dark Mercury” makeup, New Balance is also set to give the world a UNC-inspired colorway with the women’s exclusive “White Blue Haze.”
Taking on the standard construction found on most NB 550s, the silhouette takes on shades of white throughout its leather and mesh upper while blue haze accents throughout. These hits of UNC-esque blue land on branding details like the “550” text, “N” logo, and atop the tongue via a basketball-laden graphic while also taking over the leather overlay along the collar. As for the rest of the sneaker, we see perforated leather panels near the toe and midfoot come in white to match the majority of the upper with our final accenting hits landing on the rubber heel counter and the “NB” logo stamped atop the heel tab. Rounding out the look is the white 550 midsole paired with a blue haze and white rubber outsole.
The New Balance 550 White Blue Haze W is set to release on February 1st, 2023 through New Balance and select retailers online and in-store. Coming in women’s sizing, the retail price is set at $110.
