Black Soles, a collective of African-American employees at New Balance teamed up with Joe Freshgoods earlier this year to create the Conversations Amongst Us Collection, a footwear and clothing collection that evokes meaningful dialogue and tells authentic stories from the African-American community. We’ve already seen a handful of premier NB silhouettes get the Conversations treatment, such as the 2002R and 550, though one of the most classic and iconic silhouettes is finally joining the collection, the New Balance 574.
Unlike previous pairs in the collection, the sneaker comes in a primarily white base with slight hints of the aged aesthetic that has dominated previous pairs in the CAU collection. Leather takes over the white overlays on the toe, midfoot, and heel, while a ripstop material lands on the toebox and collar. White-on-white appears through the lace and tongue, matching the tongue tag and its “NB Classic 574” text. Placed on the midfoot is an N logo, coming in a silver 3M reflective with black leather piping the edges. Along the collar, a semi-translucent aged plastic overlay runs back to the leather heel tab, hosting “Conversations Amongst Us” text, split between both sneakers. More branding from the collection is found on the reverse of the tongue tag and on the insole with a graphic depicting two individuals stating the namesake of the colorway. Underfoot, the Encap cushioned midsole comes in a tri-toned grey, white, and cream while the pre-worn rubber outsole gets blacked out.
The New Balance 574 Conversations Amongst Us is slated to release in select countries on August 12th, 2022 through New Balance and select retailers online and in-store. Coming in men’s sizing, the retail price is set at $105. For more updates on New Balance’s latest releases and more in the sneaker and streetwear world, keep it locked to our Twitter andMobile App.
