Dating back to the 80s, the New Balance 574 has become a mainstay in NB’s release calendar. This humble silhouette had its start with a more premium version, the Steven Smith-designed New Balance 576. Ultimate that silhouette fell to the wayside with the success of the cheaper 574. Still, the model returns occasionally, and with its 35th Anniversary in 2023, we’ve had a handful of colorways hit shelves so far. Following up on a pack of Made In UK 576s that celebrated the model's birthday, New Balance is again tasking its Flimby factory with another 576 colorway, dubbed “Monk's Robe.”
Coming covered in premium pigskin suede, mesh, and synthetic materials across its upper, the 576 “Monk's Robe” keeps things earthy with its chocolate brown hues accented by hits of white. Pigskin suede wraps around the mudguard, midfoot panel, and heel overlays, while we see mesh peeking through the toebox and collar portions. These materials take on the chocolate brown shade while we see accenting white hits on the lace set, tongue tag, sockliner, and panel near the collar. Prominent “N” branding on the midfoot continues the shades of white, as does the “New Balance” text embroidered on the heel. Underfoot sits a two-tone ENCAP-cushioned midsole in grey and white paired with a black rubber outsole.
The New Balance 576 Made In UK Monk's Robe is set to release on April 20th, 2023, through New Balance and select retailers online and in-store. Coming in men’s sizing, the retail price is set at $230.
