Thanks to Teddy Santis (who now runs the NB Made in USA line), the New Balance 550 came back from the dead via a collaboration with his clothing label Aime Leon Dore in 2020. After seeing the demand for the archival low-top basketball model, both Santis and NB came to the realization that its high-top cousin, the 650, should make its return as well. With a handful of ALD x NB 650R’s on the horizon, inline releases are beginning to emerge on the model as the New Balance 650 has just appeared in a clean "White Grey Black" makeup.
An all-leather construction is utilized across the silhouette's upper, covered almost entirely white with accenting black and grey hits seen throughout. Black trims the aforementioned white leather panels as well as the leather “N” logo along the midfoot, while grey accents can be found on the “650” text along the bottommost eyestay as well as back on the puffy mesh collar that features “New Balance” text in this same shade. White cotton laces run up the same colored tongue to the basketball graphic-covered tongue tag that comes in the three shades found throughout the design. Our last hit of branding visible on the upper is found on the heel with the “NB” logo coming in grey. Underfoot, an “NB” branded white midsole with grey and black accents is paired with a non-marking rubber outsole featuring the same white, black, and grey color combo.
The New Balance 650 White Grey Black is set to release in 2022 through New Balance and select retailers online and in-store. Coming in men’s sizing, the retail price is set at $140.
