Basketball models from New Balance may have had a dark period, though recent signings of Kawhi Leonard and Zach Lavine have shown that the push for more court-ready silhouettes is in full effect. Taking us back to the retro days of NB basketball kicks, and revived courtesy of Teddy Santis’ ALD, the low-top New Balance 550 has maintained popularity while its high-top cousin, the New Balance 650, is beginning to return via inline releases. Already seen in White Grey Black, the White Red variant already seen on the 550 is making its way to the high-top version.
Typical construction found on the 550 is present, though scaled up to high-top form, as the upper takes on a combo of mesh and leather in red, white, and black shades. Around the toe, perforated leather takes over courtesy of the toebox itself and via an overlay that warps back to the heel. White-on-white appears on the tongue and lace set while the New Balance-branded tongue tag and basketball graphic come in the three shades found throughout. Along the midfoot, “650” branding and the “N” logo both are found in red with black trimming each detail while back on the red mesh collar a black leather overlay hosts “New Balance” text. On the white leather heel overlay, our final hit of “NB” branding comes in black and red with the entire design finished off by a white rubber midsole and tri-toned black, red, and white rubber outsole.
The New Balance 650 White Red is set to release on September 15th, 2022 through New Balance and select NB retailers online and in-store. Coming in men’s sizing, the retail price is set at $140.
