Brands across the sneaker industry hope to find a creative mind as New Balance has with Teddy Santis. Since first crossing paths with the ALD founder in 2019, the duo has released some of the most sought-after NB colorways on a variety of silhouettes, though there was much more in the pipeline for Santis himself. After being named the Creative Director of NBs Made in USA line, it would take about a year before the project was officially unveiled and it was well worth the wait. Encompassing a wide range of 99X silhouettes in varying shades, the latest in the series is a 990v2 in an earth-tone “Olive” colorway.
Covered with premium pigskin suede and mesh, the sneaker primarily takes on an olive hue throughout its mudguard, quarter panel, and collar, while a white mesh base accents the shade. Navy panels found on the toebox and “N” logo add more flair to the colorway, while a cream tongue hosts both a set of white laces and black branding details. Back along the heel, hairy tan suede that has made an appearance on many Teddy Santis-designed NBs is present, while “USA” branding gets slapped on top of a 3M reflective heel tab. Rounding out the design is a cream and tan colored foam midsole paired with a black rubber outsole.
The New Balance 990v2 Made in USA by Teddy Santis Olive is set to release in 2022 through New Balance and select retailers online and in-store. Coming in men’s sizing, the retail price is set at $200. Keep it locked to our Twitter and the Sole Retriever mobile app to stay updated on the latest in sneakers, streetwear, and more.
