When Teddy Santis took on the role of creative director at New Balance, the world was waiting for his signature design motif of elevated basics to bless an NB silhouette. After sharing a preview image containing a variety of 99X Made In USA models early in 2022, the first set of releases followed suit with "Marblehead" dressing the 990v1-v3. Now were on the cusp of receiving more colorways from that image previewed months ago, this time however, the New Balance 990v3 gets a "Sea Salt" makeover.
Taking on a combo of mesh and premium leather, the silhouette gets dressed in a simple color scheme of “Sea Salt Rain Cloud”. Across the mesh base and leather midfoot overlays are multiple shades of white, with the latter getting a much brighter shade. The collar and toebox leather overlays come in grey, complemented by the cream white mudguard on the toe. White flat laces work up the two-tone white and black tongue towards the red New Balance USA branding. On the midfoot, a silver 3M reflective "N" logo comes piped with black and white leather. More branding hits make their way onto the heel with "Made In USA" text just above the NB logo. 990 stamp on the lateral of the heel overlay complete the uppers branding while the insole features a retro NB logo and text. Rounding out the look is the two-tone white and cream midsole set to a black rubber outsole.
The New Balance 990v3 Made In USA By Teddy Santis Sea Salt is set to release on May 26th, 2022 through New Balance and select NB retailers online and instore. Coming in men's sizing, the retail price is set at $210.
