Among its varied repertoire of sneaker models, New Balance's 990 series has always been a standout. Boasting a unique blend of athletic functionality and street-ready aesthetics, we still see new iterations (and updates) of the nearly 40 year old series. The 990v4, in particular, became a staple for NB but was eventually shelved to make room for its successors - the 990v5 and 990v6. Following the silhouette’s return for Grey Day 2023, the OG “Grey” colorway of the 990v4 Made In USA is set for a comeback.
Retaining its premium materials, the upper features grey pigskin suede across the mudguard, midfoot panel, eyestays, and heel. This is complemented by dark grey perforated leather overlays on the toe box and near the collar. Grey mesh is visible on the toe, portions of the midfoot, tongue, and collar — adding breathability and comfort. Contrasting white laces and black 990v4 Made In USA branding atop the tongue bring more depth to the design. The sneaker also features 3M reflective panels on the heel and the "N" logo. Completing the design is a tri-toned midsole in white and grey paired with a black outsole.
The New Balance 990v4 Made in USA Grey will release this year through New Balance and select retailers online and in-store. Coming in men’s sizing, the retail price is set at $185.
