New Balance’s 99X series has been a stalwart in the brand's lineup since its original release in 1982 and continues to receive updates throughout the years. Now onto the 6th version of the 990, aptly dubbed the 990v6, the Boston-based brand has big plans for the silhouette in 2023. Outside of collaborations with Action Bronson, the brand's "Made in USA" series now helmed by Aime Leon Dore founder Teddy Santis is set to drop a fresh take on the 990v6 as part of New Balance's Made in USA Season 3 collection.
This rendition of the 990v6 Made in USA presents a harmonious blend of textures and tones. The design starts with a creamy mesh base matching with suede eyelets and the midfoot panel. Leather overlays near the heel and collar continue the creamy shades. Further enhancing the sneaker's color palette is tan suede on the mudguard and heel. White toe box overlays contrast the more earthy panels, further accented by a silver 3M reflective "N" logo and a small panel near the toe with the same reflective finish. Additional New Balance branding can be found on the tongue and vamp, with the latter receiving a reflective finish. The tri-toned midsole in tan, cream, and white comes cushioned with FuelCell foam, offering a blend of comfort and performance. A grey finish on the outsole helps round out the design.
The New Balance 990v6 Made In USA Cream Tan will release July 27 through New Balance and select retailers online and in-store. Coming in men’s sizing, the retail price is set at $200.
