Arguably the most iconic line of models that New Balance has to offer, the 99X series, is getting its latest iteration very soon, the New Balance 990v6. Having been teased for over a year at this point, and even previewed via Action Bronson’s upcoming collaboration with the Boston-based company, official images have just emerged of the iconic Grey colorway that NB is famous for.
Taking a more modern approach compared to previous 99X models, the v6 iteration gets the typical mesh, suede, and nubuck construction with this particular “Grey” colorway featuring tonal shades of its namesake. Lighter grey panels are found on the mudguard and eyestays ,while darker grey perforated suede takes over portions of the toebox and midfoot. Contrasting the grey mesh underlay is a set of white flat laces, working towards the “new balance 990v6” branded tongue tag. More branding details can be seen on the midfoot with the iconic “N” logo getting a grey/white makeover while “990” debossing and “NB MADE IN U.S.A” text is present on the heel overlay and heel tab respectively. Cushioning is where we see the biggest change from the 990v5 to this v6 with a two-tone white and grey foam midsole coming constructed out of FuelCell foam, the latest innovation in cushioning from NB. Rounding out the design is a black and grey rubber outsole.
The New Balance Made in USA 990v6 Grey is set to release in November 2022 through New Balance and select retailers online and in-store. Coming in men’s and grade school sizing, the retail price is $195.
