As the Summer Olympics in Paris, France, draw near, numerous brands are launching special collections to celebrate the games. However, New Balance has been quiet on this front until now. Images of a brand-new New Balance 990v6 Made in USA crafted for the Paris Olympics have surfaced online. On top of this pair, a New Balance 997 is also on the way in a Paris colorway.
The New Balance 990v6 Made in USA Paris features a luxurious blend of materials, including pigskin suede, mesh, nubuck, and TPU. The upper is dominated by earthy tones of rich oak, true brown, and afterglow, creating a sophisticated and versatile color palette. Dark brown suede covers the mudguard, eyestays, and heel, while lighter brown perforated nubuck is used on the toebox and midfoot overlays.
Creamy mesh panels on the toe, midfoot, bottom half of the tongue, and collar provide a soft contrast, enhancing the overall aesthetic. The large N logo on the midfoot is presented in a striking green shade, lined with tan, and matches the top TPU eyelet. The design has a white and cream midsole with FuelCell cushioning and a durable black rubber outsole.
Inspiration for the color palette comes from the interior of a New Balance store in Paris, including the hand-crafted textile banners, furniture, and more.
The New Balance 990v6 Made in USA Paris will release on July 26, 2024, exclusively via the New Balance Le Marais store in Paris. Coming in men’s sizing, the retail price has yet to be announced.
