Teddy Santis has led New Balance's Made in USA lineup since 2022, revitalizing the brand's iconic silhouettes with fresh, seasonal releases. As we draw closer to the end of Season 5, anticipation builds for the upcoming drops from Season 6. One of the standout releases from this new collection is the New Balance 990v6 Made in USA in Purple. This iteration continues the tradition of high-quality craftsmanship, utilizing premium materials and a bold colorway that will turn heads.
The New Balance 990 series, first introduced in 1982, has become synonymous with quality, comfort, and style. Over the years, the 990 has seen numerous updates, each iteration refining the design while staying true to its heritage. The 990v6, under the direction of Teddy Santis, maintains this legacy with a focus on modern materials and updated aesthetics.
This latest release features a mesh base, providing breathability and comfort, while perforated nubuck and premium pigskin suede overlays add a touch of luxury. Suede details are found on the mudguard, midfoot, eyestays, and heel overlay, all coated in a single shade of purple. The mesh base pops at the toe and collar, enhancing the overall aesthetic, and gets accented by the darker purple found on the perforated nubuck on the toe, midfoot, and collar.
The N branding on the midfoot is outlined in black, matching the lace set and adding a subtle contrast. Additional branding includes the 990v6 logo on the tongue, the 990 on the lateral heel, and the Made in USA tag on the heel. The design is completed with a white and grey foam midsole with FuelCell cushioning and a black and grey rubber outsole for optimal traction and support.
The New Balance 990v6 Made in USA Purple will release in July 2024 through New Balance and select retailers online and in-store. Coming in men’s sizing, the retail price is set at $220.
