New Balance's 99X series covers a range of iterations and versions, with this year being the return of the 993 to the release calendar as part of Teddy Santis' Made in USA Season 5 collection. While this collection previously released the 990v4 in Arctic Grey and Macadamia, the 993 now appears in a two-pack with the Chive colorway leading the charge. Alongside this pair, NB will launch the Interstellar 993 and the 990v6 True Camo.
The New Balance 993 Made in USA Chive boasts a lush construction combining premium pigskin suede and breathable mesh, similar to Joe Freshgoods’ take on the model. The entire upper indulges in a rich chive green, from the smooth suede that lines the mudguard, midfoot, and heel to the durable mesh that allows air circulation. The design is complemented by leather accents on the toe and heel, enhancing the sneaker's luxurious feel.
Contrasting the green, the tongue and laces are soft, creamy white, while the classic New Balance N logo and heel tab branding maintain the cohesive color scheme. This stylish aesthetic is completed by a two-tone midsole in cream and white, ensuring comfortable wear, and a robust black rubber outsole for lasting durability.
The New Balance 993 Made in USA Chive will release on April 25, 2024, through select retailers online and in-store. A global release via New Balance will take place on May 2.
