Since Teddy Santis took over the Made in USA line, New Balance has greatly increased in popularity. Throughout the six seasons created by Santis, the duo has brought back Made in USA products that fell to the wayside, most recently with the 997 model. Following up on the launch of the Vintage Teal rendition, which marks the first widely available 997 in years (not including the Paris-exclusive 997 that launched over the summer), the Moonrock Driftwood colorway has emerged via retailer imagery.
As with all Made in USA releases, this 997 features premium construction and materials, taking on a nubuck, pigskin suede, mesh, and TPU upper. Light tan shades grace the suede paneling on the mudguard, midfoot, and heel, while the vamp underlay and collar come constructed out of tan hairy suede. Tonal shades of tan continue onto the TPU reinforcement around the collar, letting the stark white laces shine. Further hits of pigskin suede find a home on the tongue, which contains New Balance 997 branding details in white. Exposed foam on the lining of the tongue adds to the aged look of the silhouette, further cemented by the vintage cream hue on the heel counter. Final details on the upper include the pigskin suede N logo in tan and the New Balance text embroidered on the heel. The model has a grey and white 997 midsole below paired with a black rubber outsole.
The New Balance 997 Made in USA Moonrock Driftwood will release on December 19, 2024, through New Balance and select retailers online and in-store. Available in men’s sizing, the retail price is $190. Download the Sole Retriever mobile app to stay updated on the latest releases, raffles, news, and more in the sneaker and streetwear world.
