Coco Gauff's meteoric rise in the tennis world has been extraordinary, with her becoming the youngest US Open champion since Serena Williams' victory in 1999 when she took the title in September 2023. Alongside her impressive on-court achievements, Gauff has also made her mark in the sneaker industry through a collaboration with New Balance. Following the success of the Spooky Season colorway, the partnership is set to launch the Coco CG1 Australian Open edition just in time to celebrate one of tennis' most prestigious events.
The New Balance Coco CG1 Australian Open sneaker is a vibrant nod to the '90s, blending nostalgic aesthetics with modern performance technology. It showcases a color palette of navy, white, red, and yellow, creating a visually striking appearance. The sneaker features navy accents on the rubberized mudguard, mesh toe, collar, and lace set, providing a solid base for the more vibrant colors to pop.
The tongue, sockliner, and heel overlay are adorned in a light blue shade, adding a fresh and playful element to the design. Coco's personal touch is evident with her branding in cursive atop the tongue. The standout feature is the large "N" logo on the lateral heel, rendered in a bold combination of red and yellow. The shoe is engineered for performance, featuring New Balance's advanced FuelCell cushioning and an Energy Arc outsole, ensuring comfort and functionality.
The New Balance Coco CG1 Australian Open will release on January 12, 2024, through New Balance and select retailers online and in-store. Available exclusively in women’s sizing, the retail price is set at $170.
