New Balance has found a hit with their 2002R model as of late, having multiple collaborators lend their hand on the silhouette. This time, one of their favorite brands to link up with is bringing rodents to the early-2010’s runner on the upcoming atmos x New Balance M2002R.
Construction on the silhouette gets a rodent-friendly makeover with a mesh base coming accented by faux rat fur, suede, and leather overlays throughout. Around the silver mesh toebox, white leather overlays sit just above the mudguard covered in grey faux rat fur. The midfoot panel takes on a navy blue look with a debossed rat print sprinkled all around, pairing well with the navy “N” logo nearby. More rat motifs land on the insole with the creature itself coming printed in a matching navy blue.
On the heel, a mix of suede and leather overlays in shades of grey leave room for the sky blue heel tab to shine. On the top of the tongue, a sky blue window housing “New Balance Running” branding comes surrounded by more grey tones. Underfoot is the Abzorb cushioned midsole featuring N-ergy shock absorption in the heel dressed in white and blue respectively. Finishing off the look is the tri-toned navy, sky blue, and black rubber outsole.
The atmos x New Balance M2002RAT is set to release on May 28th, 2022 exclusively in Korea and Japan through atmos and New Balance online and in-store. Coming in men’s sizing, the retail price is set at ¥19,800 (approx $155 USD).
