As the sneaker realm witnessed the rise and fall of sock-like sneakers, the trend gradually shifted towards chunky and retro-inspired designs. New Balance seized this transition, finding itself center stage with its retro runners. The brand's recent innovations nod to its legacy while one of its latest designs oozes a futuristic aesthetic resonant of the Yeezy line — the New Balance Warped Runner. Making its official debut at AURALEE's runway show and recently receiving official imagery in its "Tan Cream" colorway, a fresh "Grey Cream" rendition emerged through Instagram user jm.toh.
This version of the Warped Runner remains loyal to the foundational design elements. Like other colorways, including the "Black Blue," the model features suede overlays combined with a mesh underlay. Dominating the visual palette, the grey tones envelop the suede sections, notably the mudguard, eyestays, and heel. These panels strategically frame the oval-shaped mesh base, which takes on a harmonious tan shade. A cream-colored "N" logo elegantly sits on the midfoot panel, offering a subtle branding touch against the backdrop. Mirroring this shade, the laces effortlessly blend into the design. A testament to comfort and performance, the chunky FuelCell-cushioned midsole reinforces the cream theme. The sneaker's distinctive feature, a multi-colored "warped" rubber outsole, completes the ensemble.
The New Balance Warped Runner Grey Cream will release in 2023 through New Balance and select retailers online and in-store. Available in men's sizing, the retail price is set at $150.
