Jordan Brand is set to usher in a new era for the classic Air Jordan 4. Debuting later this year is the Air Jordan 4 RM, a reimagined take on the silhouette that takes the classic design and gives it a modern-day update. With some general release colorways on the horizon, Jordan Brand team rider Nigel Sylvester is set to debut the Air Jordan 4 RM with a duo of collaborations for the fall season.
Already seen on the feet of Nigel, the upcoming Nigel Sylvester x Air Jordan 4 RM SP Grandma's Driveway comes in a pro green, metallic platinum, black, and sail colorway. The premium suede upper is covered in pro green, accented by a flexible cage that wraps the upper, replacing the classic wing, eyestay, and heel seen on the Air Jordan 4. The midsole/outsole comes predominantly black, with sail wrapping around the back heel, exposing the Air unit. Metallic Platinum hits are seen via the mini Nike Swoosh embroidered on the toe, Bike Air By Jordan on the tongue, and Bike Air on the back heel, which replaces the traditional Nike Air or Jumpman Air on the AJ 4. In the video shared by Greg Yuna, Nigel says the Jordan 4 RM that he has on feet is a sample. It is important to note that the sample could differ slightly from the production pair.
Later, Nigel took to social media to share design inspiration behind the sneaker. The color scheme and packaging takes inspiration from his grandma's driveway, with the green shade on the upper being the exact color used on the fence around his grandmothers's home. Another reference to his grandma's home comes on the packaging with a direct scan of the concrete on the driveway of the house used on the outside of the box. Packing paper covering the shoes shows a photo of a young Nigel on a tricycle.
The Nigel Sylvester x Air Jordan 4 RM SP Grandma's Driveway will release July 20, 2024, at Nike, SNKRS, and select retailers online and in-store. An early release will take place in London via Nigel's GO brand, which is hosting a group ride on July 13. To participate, you need to sign up at BSTN London and particpate in the GO Ride. Details can be found here. Available in men’s and grade school sizing, retail is set at $150 and $120, respectively.
