The Nike Air Cross Trainer 3 Low has had a nice under-the-radar run. The early '90s cross trainer has been released in various colorways such as "Kumquat," "Starfish," and "Hot Lava." Many of these pairs have succeeded in the retail market without hyper or buzz. Some have gone on sale as well. Either way, the Nike Air Cross Trainer 3 Low resurgence is not failing by any means. Next for this silhouette is a "Citron" edition, drawing cues from another '90s trainer.
The Nike Air Cross Trainer 3 Low "Citron" takes direct inspiration from the classic Nike Air Trainer SC 2 of the same name. While color schemes have changed slightly, the resemblance between these two Nike Trainers is uncanny. For this tribute pair, the Cross Trainer 3 Low sports white perforated leather underlays paired with cement grey overlays and a neutral grey-colored Swoosh on the sides. The color pops come in the form of citron and teal nebula, seen on accenting overlays of the upper, top plastic eyelets, top of the tongue, back heel tab, and wrapping around the back heel, just above the midsole. Adding some contrast to this pair is the black stripe on the midsole, which sits above a white and grey solid rubber outsole.
The Nike Air Cross Trainer 3 Low Citron is set to release in Holiday 2023. They will be available via Nike, SNKRS, and select NSW retailers. Coming in men's sizing, retail is set at $125.
