Football may be America’s most popular sport, but when it comes to footwear the pastime still falls short of the NBA. This wasn’t always the case as the 90s proffered various models from baseball and football players like Ken Griffey Jr’s Air Griffey Max series or Deion Sander’s dual-sport-inspired Nike Air DT Max 96. While the latter of the two rarely receives the retro treatment, The Swoosh recently announced that Kyler Murray would be receiving his own PE colorway of a turf-ready Nike Air DT Max 96-inspired sneaker. Now, a second colorway has been revealed.
Coming in the same construction as the previously revealed pair, the sneaker takes on the colors of the Oregon Ducks (even though Murray played for both Texas A&M and Oklahoma during his collegiate years). Smooth leather overlays in white make up the majority of the upper with tonal stitching details present throughout. Branding comes in the form of various yellow Nike Swoosh details, found along the midfoot and on the lockdown strap, while this same shade land on the perforations that appear on the claw-like panels. Between these, metallic green shines through on the lower half and makes up portions of the midsole and outsole. Completing the look is the spiked rubber outsole that comes in green and yellow with the heel getting a clear makeover.
The Nike Air DT Max 96 Cleat Kyler Murray PE, as the name suggests, will remain exclusive to the Arizona Cardinals QB. Even with this, maybe we see Nike release other colorways on the model or even retro the sneaker that inspired this cleat in the near future.
