This upcoming multi-colored Nike Air Force 1 Low goes an entirely different direction from the usually nondescript Puerto Rico-themed sneakers of the past. Mismatched color blocking takes this shoe to another level of uniqueness as the “Boricua” edition is the brand’s latest themed sneaker taking inspiration from something other than the flag itself.
The colorway is reminiscent of the multitude of colors the buildings in San Juan are painted in. Orange, purple, pink, red, green, light blue, and peach-colored nubuck make up the mismatched upper, while keeping the Swoosh branding in neutral white leather. A simple white leather liner contrasts the busy insole, which is printed with various sayings, cities, and festival names printed repeatedly. The sail laces feature mismatched lace dubraes, one dubrae printed with “Puerto Rico” in a cursive script, and the other an engraving of a double two domino. A white midsole with a navy outsole is the only bit of consistency plans to give us on this pair.
The Nike Air Force 1 Low Boricua is set to release in June 2022. It will drop at Nike as well as select NSW retailers worldwide, in-store and online. Coming in men’s sizes, retail is set at $120.
