Over the last four decades, the Nike Air Force 1 has seen almost every design motif under the sun, from laser-etching to platform builds. 2022 being its milestone 40th birthday means Nike is taking major focus to the silhouette, as seen with the slew of commemorative pairs on the horizon, including the upcoming "LA Flea colorway." Though the latest pair to appear doesn't venture too far material-wise, the Nike Air Force 1 Low "Illustration" adds wild designs to the humble basketball sneaker.
Keeping things simple on the front half with its standard smooth leather along the toebox, mudguard, eyestays, and midfoot panel, the rear of the sneaker is where we get the most unique details. A cloud-like oversized Nike Swoosh with wavy details and hidden designs atop, giving off Off-White vibes with its neon green stitching near the front half, is present on the lateral side while the medial side stays true to the OG. As it runs over the black patent leather heel overlay, it reaches a multicolor heel tab with an illustration of a star with a smiley face on a gradient leather panel. The insole gets psychedelic illustrations with the right pair coming in black and white and the left pair getting a multi-color design. Underfoot a white AF1 midsole with drawn-on details above the AIR branding is paired with a slightly off-white rubber outsole.
The Nike Air Force 1 Low Illustration is slated to release in 2022 through Nike and select NSW retailers online and in-store. Coming in men’s sizing, the retail price is TBA.
