The Nike Air Max 1 has stood the test of time since its inception in the late 80s. Designed by Tinker Hatfield, the Air Max 1 was the building block for the entire Air Max series that continues to evolve. Still, you cannot overlook the silhouette that started it all. Nike paid homage to the AM1 in 2022 to celebrate its 35th Anniversary. Since then, the Air Max 1 has been a staple on store shelves, with releases ranging from GRs to collabs to limited edition drops.
Over the past year, the general release edition of the Nike Air Max 1 has featured a traditional build with OG-style colorblocking. Mesh, nubuck, and suede have been used, with some colorways and SC versions opting for minor updates. Starting in Fall 2024, the Nike Air Max 1 will do away with the mesh, nubuck, and suede look mostly, favoring an updated build. Now, mesh, suede, and leather will cover the base of the AM1. With a handful of pairs dropping in July, such as Photon Dust Smoke Grey, another clean colorway reappears, White Black.
This iteration of the Nike Air Max 1 White Black differs from the pair released in January. White mesh underlays are paired with summit white suede overlays and black leather via the Swoosh on the sides and mudguard. This slight color variation and material swap brings new life into this classic colorway as we continue on the second half of 2024. The classic Max Air cushioned midsole and solid rubber outsole complete the look for this Air Max 1.
The Nike Air Max 1 White Black will release on July 1, 2024, through Nike and select retailers online and in-store. Coming in men’s sizing, retail is set at $140.
