2025 will mark the 35th birthday of the Nike Air Max 90, and Tinker Hatfield’s creation will undoubtedly be the subject of various special renditions to celebrate the influential design. Well ahead of the new year, images of a Quickstrike colorway of the Air Max 90 have appeared, with Nike taking inspiration from volcanic eruptions and the magma that lies within.
Across the leather upper, we see a textured dark black finish that appears almost like hardened obsidian due to the pattern applied. Trimming the various leather panels is a laser orange finish, almost as if magma is starting to bubble to the shoe's surface. Direct references to magma can be found via the Swoosh and heel tab, with a cracked-like appearance of black “obsidian” and orange “magma” creeping through. This same pattern is placed alongside the insole. Aside from the other pop of orange along the Nike Air branding on the tongue tag, the rest of the sneaker, from the TPU eyelets to the lace set, sockliner, and tongue, comes in black. The black foam midsole finishes the design with a laser orange-shaded Max Air unit in the heel and a black rubber outsole.
