35 years ago, Nike Air Max was born. The cult classic lineup of offerings has continued to expand with a wide variety of iterations hitting the market, the latest being the Air Max Scorpion. While these newer models offer the most advanced tech on the market, sometimes the classics just hit a little harder. That’s where the iconic Nike Air Max 90 steps in, recently being revealed in a clean black/white color combo dubbed “Spray Paint Swoosh.”
As the naming scheme suggests, the Swoosh details along the quarter panel appear to be spray painted atop the black leather panel, coming doubled up in grey and white. As for the rest of the sneaker, things remain standard to a typical AM 90 as its black mesh underlay comes with further leather overlays and plastic TPU panels. Around the mudguard, black tumbled leather wraps past the Swoosh action along the midfoot to a TPU heel tab with “Nike Air” branding in a stark white while more plastic can be found along the eyestays. These eyestays host a set of black flat laces, working their way up the similarly shaded mesh tongue to another white branding detail, more “Nike Air” text. Rounding out the design is the white foam midsole, housing an exposed Max Air unit in the heel, paired with a black rubber outsole.
The Nike Air Max 90 Spray Paint Swoosh is set to release in 2022 through Nike and select NSW retailers online and in-store. Coming in men’s sizing, the retail price is TBD.
