Japan has been a hotbed for sneakers and streetwear, home to some of the industry's hottest designers, boutiques, and fashion houses. The Land Of The Rising Sun has had a strong connection to Nike silhouettes with Air Max sneakers being one of the most popular models to rock when walking through Shibuya. To pay homage to Japan and its famous Koi Fish, the latest Nike Air Max 95 gets dressed in fish scales and graphics depicting the fish.
Neutral shades dominate the upper of this AM95, taking on various greys, blacks, and creams throughout its multi-material build. Down on the toe, a black tumbled leather reaches the bottommost eyestay, home to a set of black rope laces. Working down the profile you’ll find the classic wavy pattern famous to the AM95, taking on suede and canvas in a gradient of light to dark as you work from top to bottom. Located near the white mesh collar is a white Nike Swoosh embroidered onto the grey canvas. Heading to the inside of the sneaker, you’ll find a standard blue insole, though the graphic atop depicts a Japanese Koi Fish next to a white Nike Swoosh. Back on the heel is a fish scale pattern in black and white with red Nike Air branding slapped in the center. Underfoot is a black AM95 midsole with exposed Max Air Units in red paired with a semi-translucent rubber outsole that features the same aforementioned fish scale pattern.
The Nike Air Max 95 Premium Japanese Koi is slated to release on October 14th, 2022 through select NSW retailers online and in-store while a launch through Nike is expected later in the year. Coming in men’s sizing, the retail price is set at $185.
