One of the most iconic sneakers from the '90s, the Nike Air Max 97 still has a place in the footwear industry more than 20 years removed from its debut. While the model often takes on a simple combination of colors, like the recently revealed Nike Air Max 97 “Michigan,” we have our first looks at a more playful take on Christian Tresser’s design — the Nike Air Max 97 “Cow” (W).
Retaining its Japanese bullet train-inspired design, this “Cow” colorway features a sail, white, and chrome color palette. The mudguard and portions of the wavy panels are dressed in suede, showcasing cow print details. Tonal hits of sail take over the leather and suede overlays above, with laces matching the suede tongue's sail hue. The Nike Swoosh on the tag above comes in a chrome finish, and this same color palette is applied to the midfoot's Swoosh and the heel tab's "Air Max" text. Underfoot, the iconic full-length Air Max sole unit comes in a sail hue paired with a sail and black outsole completing the look.
The Nike Air Max 97 Cow (W) releases this fall through Nike and select retailers online and in-store. Coming in women's sizing, the retail price is set at $185.
