This Nike Air Max 97 Touches On 2022’s Weirdest Sneaker Trend
PublishedWhether you love to hate it or hate to love it, the distressed sneaker has got to be one of the weirdest trends to drop this year. Spotted on the New Balance 2002R Protection Pack and the upcoming WHO DECIDES WAR x Nike Air Force 1 collaboration, the crazy fad is now set to take over Christian Tresser’s most iconic creation with the Nike Air Max 97 Distressed Sesame.
Taking the water ripple-inspired design to new levels, the top half of the AM 97 is crafted from vachetta tan leather, while the bottom half dons an all-suede display that’s deliberately made to look worn. Painted in tonal “Sesame”, darker-hued blotches can be found everywhere for a pre-loved aesthetic. While this fad certainly isn’t for everyone, there’s no doubt that it gives the shoe a lot of character. What you might not know is that the mudguard actually tears off over time to reveal a metallic gold inner base. This gives a whole new meaning to the saying, “one man’s trash is another man’s treasure.”
Exclusive to the ladies, the Nike Air Max 97 Distressed Sesame W should not be missed. Priced at $175, while this might seem a little higher than usual, you have to bear in mind the hidden treasure within. Expect these to launch in Holiday 2022 at select online and in-store retailers, Nike, as well as the SNKRS app. Follow us on Twitter and download our Mobile app right now for your best chance to cop this as well as future releases!
