The Nike Air Max 97 has been a staple in the sneaker world since its debut nearly 30 years ago. Known for its iconic wave-like design and full-length Air unit, the silhouette has seen a handful of remixes over its history. One version that adds even more height to the already tall sneaker is the Air Max 97 Futura, a more modern take on the design now appearing in a “Cream” colorway.
Still maintaining its usual wavy layers on the upper, we see a significant redesign in material makeup and paneling. Hairy suede runs along the mudguard and gets broken up by a wavy leather panel with tonal cream stitching. Canvas acts as the base layer above and is separated from this suede/leather portion by another leather overlay. Along the vamp, we see a double-stacked leather panel that contains covers for the eyelets and laces and which host more hits of cream. Rounding out the upper are the mesh sockliner, tongue, and pull tabs on the heel and tongue. Underfoot sits a chunkier version of the Air Max 97 midsole with a peachy tan Air unit paired with a semi-translucent outsole.
The Nike Air Max 97 Futura Cream will release this fall through Nike and select retailers online and in-store. Coming in men's sizing, the retail price has yet to be announced.
