Nike Air was a revolutionary technology when first introduced onto the market and helped propel the Beaverton-based brand into the top sportswear company on planet help. Alongside its use in various models to this day, the Air Max line is its own beast as various iterations in this lineup have been released yearly, though the retro models from the 90s are often the fan favorite. One of the most iconic, the Christian Tresser-designed Air Max 97, has just appeared with a slight redesign as it features translucent TPU panels across its upper.
Coming to us in a clean “White Sail” color combo, the Air Max 97 Translucent TPU stills features the classic wavy Japanese bullet train-inspired design across its upper with the mudguard still getting dressed in leather. Just above this where we normally would see more leather panels intertwined with mesh layers is a translucent TPU material that showcases the mesh layers below. All of this takes on a clear finish while the leather panel and mesh tongue come in shades of white and sail. Black accents appear on the pull tab and sockliner while the design comes complete with a white Air Max 97 midsole paired with a black and white rubber outsole.
The Nike Air Max 97 Translucent TPU White Sail is set to release in 2023 through Nike and select NSW retailers online and in-store. Coming in men’s sizing, the retail price is set at $185.
