'90s basketball still significantly influences sneaker culture today, with designs from that era either inspiring new models or making comebacks in their original forms. In 1995, Nike introduced the Air Max Uptempo, marketed as "The most Nike Air cushioning we’ve ever put into one sole," it became the first Nike shoe to feature full-length visible Air from heel to toe. This model quickly became a favorite among players such as Scottie Pippen, Ray Allen, Earl Boykins, and Tim Duncan. Now, nearly a decade since its last retro run, and just in time for the model's 30th Anniversary, Nike is reviving the Air Max Uptempo in its iconic White Black Teal colorway.
The Nike Air Max Uptempo White Black Teal features a clean, two-tone design. The upper is crafted from white leather and mesh, dominating the top half, while black nubuck accents the mudguard and the edge of the upper and sole unit. This contrast creates a striking visual appeal that stays true to the original design. Signature details from the OG version are expected to remain, including the AIR branding embroidered into the eyestays, multiple Swoosh logos on the upper, and the bungee cord pull-tabs on the tongue and heel. Underfoot, a black foam midsole with a full-length visible Air unit ensures exceptional cushioning and comfort, paired with a black and teal rubber outsole for optimal traction and durability.
The Nike Air Max Uptempo White Black Teal will release in Spring 2025 through Nike and select retailers online and in-store. Coming in men’s sizing, the retail price is set at $165.
