Earlier this year, Nike took to the SNKRS App to showcase an array of upcoming releases as part of the SNKRS Showcase. Besides the highly anticipated Galaxy Foamposite and ultra-expensive Swarovski-covered Air Max Plus colorways, The Swoosh introduced us to a brand-new hybrid model that merges two different eras of Nike’s history — the Air Max Waffle. This amalgamation of the Waffle Racer and Air Max Plus has just launched in the debut Action Green colorway but has now appeared in a stealthy Black color scheme.
Taking the upper of the archival Nike Waffle Racer and partial tooling from the Air Max Plus, the silhouette features fuzzy suede paneling in black along the mudguard, eyestays, and heel overlay. Below this sits a black nylon base, hosting leather overlays along the Swoosh and heel tab. More black takes over the lace set, nylon tongue, and sockliner. A red Swoosh embroidered into the woven tongue label and the blue insole break up this monochromatic look. While most of this aligns with the original Waffle Racer, the heel overlay borrows from the Air Max Plus with its Tuned Air logo featured in the center. Down below, the silhouette splits its sole unit between the Air Max Plus in the heel and the Waffle Racer in the forefoot, with the outsole primarily taking on a waffle traction pattern.
The Nike Air Max Waffle SP Black will release on November 26, 2024, through Nike and select retailers online and in-store. Available in men’s sizing, the retail price is $140.
