Since its debut in the mid-90s, the Nike Air More Uptempo has stood as an emblem of Nike's prowess in designing basketball shoes that later morphed into a lifestyle classic. With the bold "AIR" branding on the side panels, this silhouette has been embraced by both athletes and sneakerheads. Fast forward to 2023, and the model is experiencing a new creative direction, specifically targeting the younger generation.
This fresh twist on the Air More Uptempo adopts the eclectic "What The?" theme, which Nike currently applies to the Dunk Low and Air Force 1 Low. Predominantly white leather characterizes the base, serving as a blank canvas for the eruption of colors that follow. The iconic "AIR" lettering adorning the shoe gets a vibrant treatment, with each letter and surrounding panel brandishing different shades, creating a playful mismatched look. Adding to this mix are different hues on the sockliners, pull tabs, and even the bungee lace loops. The sole doesn't remain untouched by this color explosion; the left and right sneakers have blue and navy finishes, respectively. To top it all, the visible Air units beneath also alternate in colors, perfectly encapsulating the theme.
The Nike Air More Uptempo What The Uptempo GS will release November 3, 2023, through Nike and select retailers online and in-store. Available in GS sizing, the retail price stands at $140.
