The Nike Air Trainer 1 triumphantly returned for its 35th Anniversary in 2022. Thanks to Nike Sportswear, many classics were delivered, such as "Chlorophyll," "Midnight Navy," and "Shima Shima." While this Tinker Hatfield-designed silhouette is currently super slept on, this gives fans of the Trainer 1 better opportunity to stock up on their favorites now. If history tells us anything, these pairs sitting now will eventually become sought after when they get harder to find. While OG's will always be the most coveted, reinterpretations of classic classics from other silhouettes are often well-received. Case in point: the upcoming Nike Air Trainer 1 "Citron."
Following in the footsteps of the recently unveiled Nike Air Cross Trainer 3 Low "Citron," this Air Trainer 1 also takes direct inspiration from the classic Nike Air Trainer SC 2 of the same name. Coming in a white, teal nebula, neutral grey, cement grey, citron, and black, the resemblance between this Air Trainer 1 and the Air Trainer SC 2 is uncanny. The all-leather upper is split between white, neutral grey, and cement grey. Teal Nebula accents are found via the Nike branding on the mid-foot strap, Swoosh on the sides and tongue tag, and branding on the back heels and insoles. A black stripe runs above the white midsole, which is finished off by citron hits on the solid rubber outsole.
The Nike Air Trainer 1 Citron is set to release in Holiday 2023. They will be available via Nike, SNKRS, and select NSW retailers. Coming in men's sizing, retail is set at $130.
