Sneaker culture as a whole includes those from every color and creed, spanning globally in terms of its reach. With many looking past the historical significance or story behind certain releases, Nike is looking to make its “We Are Familia” collection shine through during Hispanic Heritage Month. With a Nike Air Force 1 Low already showcased as a part of the collection, the Nike Air Trainer 1 is joining in on the celebration of the Latin community after being showcased at the L'Attitude conference on the feet of Nike CEO, John Donahue.
Just like the aforementioned AF1, suede, leather, and mesh take over the upper of the Air Trainer 1 with the Nike Swoosh getting a chenille makeover. An all-over cream shade takes over the materials, sans the Swoosh, with accenting shades of blue featured on the tongue and outsole. On the tongue tag, the left sneaker keeps things standard with a Nike Air branded tag while the right sneaker adds the phrase “We Are Familia” in a yellow shade similar to that of the Nike Swoosh. Green shades land on the lateral side’s plastic eyestays near the collar with the medial side hosting a blue hue. Rounding out the design is a white midsole paired with a multi-color rubber outsole.
The Nike Air Trainer 1 We Are Familia is set to release on October 1st, 2022 through select retailers online and in-store with a Nike SNKRS release in the near future. Coming in men’s sizing, the retail price is set at $140. Keep it locked to our Twitter and the Sole Retriever mobile app to stay updated on the latest happenings in sneakers, streetwear, and more.
