Nike Basketball is in the midst of a semi-resurgence as new silhouettes from their inline label, like the Nike Air Zoom GT Cut 2, and signature silhouettes from the likes of Ja Morant are bringing more eyes to the once uber-popular lineup of sneakers. Speaking of the Nike Air Zoom GT Cut 2, the silhouette has so far been released in a handful of inline colorways, however, the latest is celebrating the NCAA’s yearly basketball tournament - March Madness.
Taking on a shades of black, orange, and white, the majority of the engineered mesh upper takes on darker shades of black while portions of the knit pattern are semi-transparent and reveal an orange pattern below. Black-on-black shades take over the tongue and lace set while the tongue tag replaces the usual Nike branding in favor of a fictional mascot featuring a Nike Swoosh for his mouth. Along the midfoot, you’ll find a TPU Swoosh in orange that stops just before the orange heel tab and a two-tone black/white TPU heel counter. More Nike branding on the insole continues the fictional team motif with “Nike University” text against an orange backdrop. Underfoot sits a Zoom Air unit in the heel with a full-length Zoom Strobel unit and React foam insole paired with a grippy wiper-blade patterned rubber outsole.
The Nike Air Zoom GT Cut 2 March Madness is set to release on March 1st, 2023 through Nike and select NSW retailers online and in-store. Releasing in men’s sizing, the retail price is set at $170.
