As the trend of foam-based footwear continues, Nike is set to introduce a new Nike Calm model, the Calm Flip Flop, in Spring 2024, following their previous releases of the Calm Slide and Calm Mule. While the excitement around such footwear has cooled since its peak in 2021 and 2022, Nike remains a key player in this segment. The Calm Flip Flop is set to arrive in three colorways: Black, Platinum Violet, and Sea Glass, offering a fresh take on the conventional flip-flop design. This new addition aims to carve out its space in a market with success stories like Salehe Bembury's Crocs.
Nike's design approach for the Calm Flip Flop mirrors the construction of its Calm series counterparts, featuring a foam upper seamlessly integrated with a durable rubber outsole. The flip-flop design incorporates a toe thong made from the same comfortable foam material, ensuring a snug fit and ease of wear. Minimal branding, a signature element in the Calm series, is elegantly displayed on the lateral midfoot and the footbed, aligning with Nike's sleek aesthetic. A unique aspect of this model is its rubber outsole, which borrows elements from the AF1 Flyknit, blending classic design with modern materials.
The Nike Calm Flip Flop is set to debut in three colorways in Spring 2024 through Nike and select retailers online and in-store. Available in women’s sizing, the retail price is set at $50.
