In the vast expanse of Nike's innovative silhouettes, the brand consistently showcases its prowess by releasing forward-thinking designs that tap into contemporary trends. The Calm Slide, with its foam-based construction, quickly became a hot topic for sneakerheads, especially in light of the popularity of the Yeezy Slide. Though the silhouette didn’t gain the same traction as Ye’s Yeezy Slide design, Nike is expanding its reach with the Calm model by introducing a Calm Mule.
Crafted from EVA foam, this new rendition of the Calm silhouette brings an enclosed toe to the table shortly after Crocs introduced its Dylan Clog. Nike's emblematic Swoosh is delicately indented on the lateral side, providing a touch of minimalist branding. The medial side features a cutout for added breathability. Unlike its Jordan Brand counterpart, the Jordan Hex Mule, the Calm Mule integrates a "sports mode" strap (similar to Crocs) complete with a detachable velcro section. The strap proudly displays the Nike branding across its spine. Nike has employed an outsole design inspired by the Air Force 1 Flyknit to complete the look. As for colorways, the initial releases will come in "Black," "Light Smoke Grey," "Hemp" and "Oil Green."
The Nike Calm Mule is set to debut in Holiday 2023 through Nike and select retailers online and in-store. Coming in unisex sizing, the retail price is set at $60.
