The Nike Cortez is one of the most recognizable sneakers ever. From its humble beginnings as one of the first performance running shoes in Nike's early days, the silhouette has even made it to the silver screen in the blockbuster Forrest Gump. Now, 50+ years after its birth, the Nike Cortez is still as prominent on store shelves as ever.
In 2024 alone, the Nike Cortez has experienced a renaissance, becoming a fan-favorite, go-to sneaker, coinciding with the Blazer, Dunk, Air Force 1, and Killshot. With widely available pairs like the Forrest Gump, Miami Dolphins, and White Black Photo Blue, Nike looks to its Northwest roots for inspiration on its latest Cortez colorway, Oregon.
The Nike Cortez Oregon comes in a University of Oregon Ducks-themed gorge green, yellow ochre, sail, alpha orange, and black colorway. This textile edition sports an all-green upper comprised of nylon and suede, with firmer side panels and a wider toe area for everyday comfort. Sail hits help break up the green theme via the laces, tongue, and lining. Yellow Ochre pops off the Swoosh on the sides, back heel tab, and stripe on the foam midsole, furthering the Oregon theme. Classic Nike branding on the tongue tag and insoles in orange and black tie everything together.
