Basketball silhouettes have played a huge role in Nike becoming the number 1 sportswear brand in the world, thanks to signature models from athletes such as Michael Jordan, Kyrie Irving, LeBron James, and many more. One area where Nike has lacked is the WNBA, though they recently announced a huge investment into the organization and a game plan to focus on the ever-growing league. Now for the first time since Diana Taurasi’s signature line in over fifteen years, Nike is slated to give Elena Delle Donne her own model, the Nike Deldon 1.
Coming constructed out of a mixture of mesh and leather across the upper, FlyEase technology is utilized along the collar with a velcro strap allowing for easy on-and -off wear. Various leather overlays make up the toe area with the tongue up above getting a mesh treatment, accented by a set of flat laces running through the leather eyestays. On the collar, Elena’s EDD logo gets embroidered atop the FlyEase strap with more branding of hers making it onto the heel counter. As for Nike branding, the Swoosh along the midfoot wraps around to connect to the other side, acting as a pull-tab. Completing the looks is a foam midsole with speckled paint details matched with a wavy rubber outsole.
The Nike Deldon 1 is slated to release during the Holiday season through Nike and select retailers online and in-store. Coming in unisex sizing, the retail price is set at $120.
