Inescapable in the current landscape of sneakers, the Nike Dunk Low has filled sneaker resell stores and our social media feeds alike for the past few years. Tracing back the origins of this hype, we have to look at 2020s releases which were sparsely stocked and featured classic BTTYS releases like the “Syracuse” and “Kentucky” colorways. Two years down the line and the quality of the sneaker declined while demand and stock skyrocketed, however, we were fortunate enough to receive both aforementioned colorways in 2022 with the “high-quality” leather from the OG drop. Joining in on this trend, the two-tone Nike Dunk Low “St. Johns” is making a comeback in 2023.
Classic construction the Dunk Low is famous for remains with an all-leather upper taking on a two-tone white/university red color scheme. The latter of these two shades appears on the mudguard, eyestays, heel overlay, and heel tab while stark white shades pierce through on the toebox, tongue, quarter panel, and collar. Tonal red laces keep the two-tone theme alive this combo appears on the Nike-branded tag located nearby. Running along the midfoot back to the heel is a red Nike Swoosh, stopping just below the white “Nike” embroidery. A red sockliner and insole combo complete the upper while everything is tied together through the white Dunk midsole and red rubber outsole.
The Nike Dunk Low St. Johns is set to release September 8, 2023 in Europe through Nike and select NSW retailers online and in-store. A US release will take place on the 9th. Coming in men’s sizing, the retail price is set at $110.
