Nike and much of the sneaker industry delved deep into its archives throughout 2024. Included in this was the reintroduction of the Nike Field General, a sneaker initially built for the gridiron in the ‘80s and worn by iconic NFL quarterbacks like Archie Manning, Dan Marino, and many more. We’ve seen the sneaker come forth in various new renditions, but 2025 will mark its first foray into Lunar New Year celebrations with the upcoming Snakeskin Pack.
Although not directly tied to Nike’s overarching Lunar New Year Collection, celebrating the Year of the Snake, the three colorways pictured here are obvious homages to the zodiac. All three pairs come with a tonal color palette across the upper, one in Dark Grey, another in Light British Tan, and finally, a Sail rendition. The three colors also share the same placement of snakeskin details, as the Swoosh comes in different colored faux snakeskin on each pair, and the color of the leather heel tab takes on a sail finish.
Aside from the snakeskin Swoosh, everything else remains standard for the model, with a smooth leather finish on the toebox and midfoot panel. At the same time, the suede hits the mudguard, vamp, eyestays, and heel overlay. A canvas material is used for the tongue’s construction, which is done in a tonal look to match most of the sneaker. Underfoot, all three pairs come with a tonal rubber midsole and outsole.
The Nike Field General Snakeskin Pack will release in Spring 2025 through Nike and select retailers online and in-store. Available in men’s sizing, the retail price is $110.
