Ken Griffey Jr. is one of the greatest baseball players of all time. While his career was injury-plagued, The Kid was one of the best home run hitters and could've broken the all-time career record that Hank Aaron held until 2007 when Barry Bonds* surpassed him. After Nike signed him to a sneaker deal, Griffey represented the Nike Air Diamond Fury line before getting his first signature sneaker, the Nike Air Griffey Max 1, in 1996. Many silhouettes followed, but the main standouts outside of the Griffey 1 were the Griffey GD and Griffey 2.
It's been a while since the Nike Air Griffey Max 2 was last seen on shelves, but it will return in Fall 2023. But there's a catch. The Nike Griffey 2 will be in cleated form for the first time since 1997. Its release will coincide with the 2023 MLB All-Star festivities. So far, this "All-Star" iteration is the only pair scheduled to drop. They come in an all-new light bone, clear jade, white, hemp, and geode teal colorway. While the exact color placement and materials are unknown, we will keep you posted as more information becomes available for this Nike Griffey 2 Cleat. Worth mentioning, the Nike Griffey 2 Cleats don't feature Air Max technology.
The Nike Griffey 2 Cleat All-Star 2023 is set to release on July 10, 2023 through Nike, SNKRS, and select retailers. Coming in men's sizing, retail is set at $150. For the latest information on this and other Jordan releases, download the Sole Retriever Mobile app and follow us on Twitter.
