Few basketball players have stamped their mark on the game quite like Kevin Durant. With his sharp shooting and quick reflexes, he cemented his place in the history of the NBA. Just as noteworthy as his on-court prowess is his off-court collaboration with Nike, churning out coveted sneaker after coveted sneaker in his signature line. Following the successful launch of the Nike KD 16 over the summer, the sneaker community is now buzzing with anticipation for what's next. Enter the Nike KD 17, whose details are currently being unveiled thanks to some insider info from Brendan Dunne at Complex.
While the sneaker retains the low-top cut reminiscent of its predecessor, the KD 17 also takes cues from iconic Nike models. For instance, the wavy TPU overlays on the midfoot pay homage to the Air Max Plus. As for branding, you'll find the signature KD emblem on the tongue and heel, while a distinctive Nike Swoosh graces the lateral heel. The cushioning system promises responsiveness and support with a foam midsole sitting atop a durable rubber outsole. As for the debut colorways, sneakerheads will be drawn to the Sunrise pair. Evoking memories of the Air Max Plus Sunrise, this variant boasts a gradient mix of gold and orange. On the other hand, the Penny pays tribute to the Air Penny with its Orlando Magic-inspired blend of white, black, and blue.
The Nike KD 17 will debut in May 2024 with the Sunrise pair on the 17th and the Penny pair on the 24th. They will be available through Nike, SNKRS, and select retailers online and in-store. Coming in men’s sizing, the retail price is set at $150.
