Nike and Vanessa Bryant pleased fans of Kobe Bryant’s sneaker lineup when the two agreed to continue to release Nike Kobe products. Marking a new chapter at the end of 2023, an array of retros and fresh colorways on classic Kobe models are in the pipeline. Nike has also focused on equipping top collegiate programs with exclusive Player Editions (PEs). The University of Oregon and other esteemed universities like Duke, USC, UCONN, LSU, and the University of Kentucky have been honored as one of the first schools to receive this special treatment. While we already saw the PEs for UCONN and Duke, the Oregon Ducks have just shared their four Kobe 8 Protro PEs.
The four distinct pairs proudly reflect the Oregon Ducks' colors and spirit. The collection includes a striking black, yellow, and green pair, while another offers a green and yellow combination. Its counterpart inverts this color scheme to yellow and green, creating a vibrant contrast. The final pair in the collection features a classic white and green palette, accented with touches of yellow, further cementing the University of Oregon's identity in the design. All four feature the Oregon Ducks’ mascot on the tongue and retain the construction of the Kobe 8 Protro, including an updated mesh upper, thicker tongue, and drop-in React sole unit.
While these Nike Kobe 8 Oregon Duck PEs are exclusive to the university's athletes and not available for retail, their release is significant for both the Oregon Ducks and Nike Kobe enthusiasts. These sneakers honor the legacy of Kobe Bryant and celebrate the University of Oregon's prestigious status in collegiate sports.
