Nike's heritage in tennis footwear is rich and storied. In 2023, the brand revisited one of its classic icons, the Nike Mac Attack, originally the signature sneaker of tennis legend John McEnroe. Since its revival, the Mac Attack has transitioned into a lifestyle favorite, collaborating with notable names like Social Status and Travis Scott. However, the sneaker's roots in tennis are undeniable, and the upcoming Wimbledon-inspired colorway is a testament to its sports legacy, paying tribute to one of the most prestigious tennis tournaments in the world.
The Nike Mac Attack Wimbledon edition perfectly blends the tournament's classic colors and the sneaker's vintage design. The silhouette is dressed in a palette of white, hyper grape, and court green, echoing the prestigious Wimbledon crest. The predominantly white upper features a mix of leather and mesh, providing both durability and breathability. Adding a touch of luxury and texture, the collar and heel overlay are crafted from green suede, while the midfoot Swoosh stands out in a vibrant purple suede. The tongue tag features a checkerboard pattern in purple and green, further accentuating the Wimbledon theme. Everything comes completed with a white Mac Attack midsole, detailed with green accent stitching, and a green rubber outsole.
The Nike Mac Attack Wimbledon will release in May 2024, two months before the tournament, through Nike and select retailers online and in-store. Available in men’s sizing, the retail price is set at $130. Stay informed about this release and more by downloading the Sole Retriever mobile app.
