The Nike Metcon 1 OG Road to Metcon X Banned Releases August 2024
Updated on •PublishedInitially barred from official CrossFit contests due to Reebok's exclusive deal with CrossFit, the Nike Metcon series has remarkably evolved into a mainstay amongst CrossFit and training enthusiasts. The series has progressed impressively since its initial debut in 2015, and it is now approaching the launch of its tenth edition later this year. Celebrating this milestone, Nike plans to reissue the Metcon 1 in its original design, marking its first comeback since its debut, as a tribute to the line's journey to its tenth iteration.

For its return, the model will come in the Road to Metcon X colorway that was originally released in 2015 as part of Nike's campaign to admit the Nike Metcon into the CrossFit Games. The Banned Metcon has a similar design to the 2011 Banned colorway of the Air Jordan 1 High that Jordan created to commemorate the NBA banning Michael Jordan from wearing the OG Jordan 1 Bred for violating the league's dress code. The sneaker maintains its hallmark combination of technologies, featuring Nike Flywire for a locked-down fit, Hyperfuse for durability, breathable mesh for comfort, and a supportive TPU wrap. Underfoot construction is designed to support the most rigorous workouts. It features a dual-density foam midsole, which perfectly balances cushioning and stability, essential for varied training routines. The outsole has a grippy rubber compound, providing excellent traction for every jump, sprint, and lift.
The Nike Metcon 1 OG Road to Metcon X will release on August 2, 2024, through Nike and select retailers online and in-store. Available in men’s sizing, the retail price is set at $150.
