Sabrina Ionescu's rise from college basketball phenom at the University of Oregon to WNBA star has been spectacular. Celebrating her alma mater's impact on her career, Nike is releasing Ionescu’s signature sneaker, the Nike Sabrina 1, in an Oregon Ducks colorway in Spring 2024. Previously, we saw an exclusive PE colorway in an Oregon Ducks-inspired design that went viral when the pair was stolen from the locker room during a WNBA game.
The Nike Sabrina 1 in the Oregon Ducks colorways retains the familiar construction of Ionescu's signature model, blending various textiles, ripstop, and mesh for a durable, athletic look. The color scheme mirrors the iconic green and yellow of the University of Oregon, capturing the spirit and energy of the Ducks. Unique touches include the playful "Quack" embroidery on the lateral side of the sole unit, a direct nod to the team's mascot.
The midfoot boasts a vibrant yellow ripstop nylon that extends into the heel's "I" overlay, while a contrasting black Swoosh adorns the lateral side. On the medial side, the Swoosh appears slanted, symbolizing the barriers Ionescu has shattered in her career. Her logo, highlighted in yellow on the tongue, matches the one found on the insole. The design is rounded off with a dual-tone yellow and green foam midsole, complemented by a black and green rubber outsole.
The Nike Sabrina 1 Oregon W will be released on March 14, 2024, through Nike and select retailers online and in-store. Available in extended women’s sizing, the retail price is set at $130.
