Today, you’d be hard-pressed to find sneakerheads wearing sneakers with Nike’s Shox cushioning system. The Swoosh has recently begun to prep and launch retro colorways of various Nike Shox models, including the Shox R4, originally released in 2000. Now, 24 years later, the original Black Metallic Silver Max Orange is making another return.
Last seen in 2018, the OG colorway of the Shox R4 comes in a clean two-tone color scheme for most of its design. Metallic silver lands on the textured and molded leather overlay along the profile. Black shades contrast this silver along the Swoosh logo, outlined in textile on the midfoot and the leather panels on the mudguard, eyestays, and collar. Black mesh finds a home on the toebox, tongue, and sockliner. Bursts of orange accents are found on the Shox logo along the tongue tag and on the tail light heel tab. The original Shox R4 cushioning setup with four orange Shox pillars in the heel and a black and red rubber outsole is featured below.
The Nike Shox R4 OG Black Metallic Silver Max Orange was originally set to release on November 26, 2024. After a delay, they will now drop on December 3 through Nike and select retailers online and in-store. Available in men’s sizing, the retail price is $150.
