1985 marked the release of the Dunk, with Nike marketing the basketball sneaker around the various collegiate programs nationwide. With this, the now-iconic Be True To Your School campaign was born. This original run of colorways included a pair for St. John’s University, a two-tone red and white Dunk that made a comeback in 2020 during the start of the silhouette’s skyrocketing popularity. Following up on a restock in 2023 and a new Next Nature variant slated for 2025, a slightly tweaked version of the St. John’s Dunk has appeared.
Like the recently revealed revival of the Syracuse colorway, this St. John’s Dunk Low comes nearly identical to the original. The two-tone all-leather design remains untouched as red leather lands on the mudguard, eyestays, heel overlay, and Swoosh. Below this sits smooth white leather on the toe, midfoot, and collar, while the tongue tags on a white nylon hue. Red laces pop off the white tongue, which continues the 1:1 recreation of the colorway. However, the tongue tag sports a red finish with white branding, inverting the colors found on the OG. Another difference is found on the sockliner, appearing in the same red but getting a jersey mesh finish compared to the smooth mesh from the original. Finishing the design is the white rubber midsole paired with a red rubber outsole.
The Nike Dunk Low St. John’s (2025) will release in Spring 2025 through Nike and select retailers online and in-store. Available in men’s sizing, the retail price is set at $115.
